Hi, I’m Gajendra Kothari, One Idiot, an avid long term investor, a tech lover, an entrepreneur, traveller & a passionate financial literacy campaigner.

12 years back, a 33 min short movie titled “One Idiot” completely changed my life. While we all have been hugely inspired by the super successful Bollywood flick “3 Idiots”, I found my calling in One Idiot. Yes, in the next 6 years (before I turn 50), I would like the world to call me One Idiot. An Idiot who has achieved Rs 100 crs wealth by making his money work hard for him. An Idiot who lives his life on his terms without worrying about money anymore. An idiot who wants to simplify personal finance for a layperson in the world that sells complexity.

The idea behind becoming One Idiot is to inspire the youth of our country to achieve financial freedom. My passion is to create financial awareness amongst every citizen. I have so far empowered more than 1,50,000 participants in the last 20 years by conducting more than 500 investor awareness sessions in the areas of Personal Finance, Financial Planning, Wealth Management, etc. at SEBI Regional seminars, BSE IPF IAPs, CFA Society India, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and at various B-schools, colleges, social organizations and corporate houses in the country.

For the last 13 years, I have been running a successful financial services firm called Etica Wealth (P) Ltd. Before this, I was VP & Head – Products for the PMS Division at UTI Mutual Fund. I was also a Business Development Head for the UK and European Markets for UTI International Ltd in London for three years.

I am a CFA Charterholder and has completed CAIA and ICFA from London, UK. I have also done my MBA from IMI, New Delhi.

I have more than 20 years of experience encompassing both Indian and overseas capital markets.

I have been interviewed and quoted extensively by both international and domestic print media including Financial Times UK, The Economic Times, Times of India, Business Standard, Mint newspaper, and has made live appearances on premier business channels like CNBC TV18, ET NOW, ZEE Business, Bloomberg TV & CNBC Awaaz. I have been a columnist for Mint Newspaper under the column title “The Intelligent Investor” and currently write for http://www.moneycontrol.com.

I have also been featured in the e-book “Top 10 Financial Planners in India” by Jagoadvisor.com and been felicitated with the Wealthforum Rising Star Award 2013.
